By the grace of God, I retained the faith. I felt like it took me a good 5 years to totally deprogram from everything. It was so hard. This is one area that no one seems to understand. The damage that this organization does to the faithful is colossal. We all know now about the evil double life he led, but what about how he methodically twisted the faith and the minds of the ordinary faithful? I can't for the life of me understand how this organization can be "fixed" by changing the leadership and a few rules. The whole spirituality and methodology is ROOTED in Maciel. How does the Church truly disengage from that? Seriously, everything the legion did put Maciel on the level of a saint. There is no other order that I know of from the history of the church that has had such a grievously disordered founder. Everything always points back to him....the writings, etc. I truly believe the whole house of cards needs to come tumbling down....just disband the whole thing and let the people go into different orders....or take time with their families to truly discern that vocation. The effects have been and continue to be so horrendous, that for the good of the faithful, bury the legion.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
